Saint Dreux is a brand new coffee and katsu sando bar, the only one of it's kind in Melbourne. Comes from the team behind Bench Coffee; Joshua Crasti, Arkhe Tekhne and co owners Nick Chen, Frankie Tan and Claye Tobin.

I love the interior so much, matte-black, modern Japan’s sliding bamboo shoji screens with glowing lightbox panels. All the staff wear crisp white shirts with tailored black aprons. The whole concept is modern, slick and reminded me of Omotesando coffee in Japan.

Serving coffee and several Japanese inspired drinks, castellas, croissants and sando. Simple menu but not simple at all in techniques and ingredients. Reminded me a bit of Lune croissant principles. This post contains two of my visits; my first visit I ordered their matcha and black sesame castella's cause their best seller hojicha has sold out. Same with their famous wagyu sando, so I opted for the katsu instead. Seriously, that katsu sando is so damn delicious. The bread is so fluffy and soft, chicken katsu so crunchy yet the meat is so soft and seasoned really well.

I came in again, this time just a lil bit after 11am which is the time they started serving their sando. Yay! I got the wagyu sando, yes it is twice the price as their regular sando but oh my so worth it. The beef is so tender, it melts in your mouth and so addictive. I also got the hojicha castella as well as their Iced hojicha latte with cold foam. Also recommended.
