Hinoak Korean BBQ

Hinoak Korean BBQ is a relatively new place in Glen Waverly. Quickly gain it's popularity, even on weekdays reservation is highly recommended. I stumble upon this place on my spontaneous birthday dinner but as I say before, reservation is needed cause they are fully book.

I went back to celebrate my husband birthday with his family, this time we call in one week in advance to make a reservation. The interior is clean, classic, modern and a bit fancy. You can tell, it's not a regular Korean BBQ place. Service is the main let down, the food take so long and it's so hard to get any attention from anyone and when you do sometimes a bit rude.

Spicy Chicken Cheese ($18), Jap Chae - Sautéed seasonal vegetables, marinated beef tossed with glass potato noodles ($17) and Corn Cheese ($14). My family loves the super spicy but tender and cheesy chicken, they just wish there's more cheese in it. Jap chae also pretty sweet and tasty, very well made indeed. I wish the corn is not on the cob so it's easier to share.

Seafood Soft Tofu Hot Pot - Table cooked in cast iron hot pot with moreton bay bug, pipi, squid, silken tofu with in-house reduced spicy seafood stock ($32). I would like my Korean stew to be a lil bit more richer and thicker, this version is pretty much watery even though it's full of high quality ingredients. I also expect larger size for it's price.

Pork Belly ($18), Pork Neck ($18), Marinated Beef Ribs ($26), Ox Tongue ($19) and Brisket $18). We were pretty amazed by the fancy griller, how the cook their pork belly. Less smoke and definitely crispier. Certainly will come back for that. Besides that everything else is pretty good. I would also come back to try their high quality meat.
