Komeyui (Revisited)

Komeyui is no secret, one of my favourite Japanese restaurant in town and arguable one of the best as well. We went in for another celebration, my brother's birthday and since his favourite food is Japanese cuisine, I found Komeyui is highly suitable.

I have been cravings for Wagyu Tataki with Soy sauce cured Egg Yolk - sliced raw beef with soy cured egg yolk & crunchy potato ($28) since I was pregnant. It was as good as ever, the cut was a bit thick for my liking but the flavours was fresh and delicious with addictive super thin crunchy potato.

Skewered Chicken Yakitori - char-grilled skewered free range chicken ($8). My mom does not eat raw so she opted for this, to me this was the most decent dish out of all. It's just average well cooked chicken skewers with sauce.

Moreton Bay Bugs - known as bay lobster, flathead lobster with garlic, ginger, salted plum sauce ($48). One of my favourite dish at Komeyui, somehow it take longer for them to serve this. The bugs was slightly over cooked unlike the last time I ate it but the sauce still remain delicious with perfect balance of sweet, sour and salty flavour.

Large Tempura Classic - lightly battered deep fried prawn, vegetables, served with dipping sauce, grated Japanese radish and ginger ($33). Consist of 4 prawn, 8 vegetables. My husband arguably most favourite Japanese dish, he almost always have to order tempura. What we love about Komeyui tempura is their dipping sauce with radish and ginger, taste different and delicious with the tempura.

Ox Tounge - luxuriously sliced ox tongue lightly salted and grilled with spring onion ($22/100g). Super well cooked ox tounge and very well seasoned. I normally prefer really thin cut ox tongue but this change my mind, it remain tender and super flavourful. I could eat this everyday.

Kakuni - Japanese braised Berkshire pork dish "square simmered", 10 hours slow cooking ($33/9pcs). The birthday boy wanted pork so we ordered this and it taste similar with Chinese sweet soy pork belly dish and it melts in your mouth, burst to delicious flavour.

I pre ordered and paid the Small Sushi Cake ($150) for my brother as our closing dish. It was grand and magnificent. Perfectly fresh and delicious. This cake is unique and perfect for sashimi and sushi lovers like my brother. The small size is suitable for 4 people but they do have the large size for bigger groups.

Another beautiful experience at Komeyui and surely won't be the last time. I'm already cravings for their ox tounge, uni sashimi and bugs. I'll be back soon.
