I have been invited to Short Straw many many times before but this time somehow they only allow me to order two dishes and two drinks, the rest I have to pay for my self. This time I went in with my mom, husband and kid on a Saturday morning. The place is just as busy as usual with the airy bright vibe that I remembered.

We started with my regular Doctor C juice, latte and babycino for my kid. Everything are just as optimal as usual. That say's a lot cause consistency is very important and one of the key of success. Short straw is one of cafe in Melbourne that I don't mind coming back over and over.

Wild Mushrooms - chilli & garlic mushrooms, truffle cream, crispy polenta ($18) added avocado. The star is definitely that super creamy aromatic truffle cream! Oh my... It's so good, that I can eat it with everything. Generous serving of mushrooms, lightly flavoured with chilli and garlic. Perfect with a lil kick at the end. Those crispy polenta is perfect with the truffle cream, addictive! The only disappointment is the avocado is not as fresh as usual, pretty mushy and a lot of black spots.

Sumo Fried Chicken - brioche bun, wakame slaw, kewpie mayo, fries ($18). My kid loves fried chicken and bread so when I saw this on the menu, I know I have to order this for him. The wakame slaw is a refreshing unique twist on chicken burger, I love it. It helps balanced out the tumeric crispy fried chicken and added a fresh break from the generous mayo. Ended with those crispy skinny fries that I always love. Yum!

Winter Waffles -sea salt caramel, crumbed honey comb, splinted chocolate, vanilla ice cream ($18.5). Out of all their waffles, this is the best combinations I have ever tasted so far. Love the pipping hot sea salt caramel balanced out with salty pretzel combined with crunchy honey comb. Vanilla ice cream added freshness and a lil break from all of the rich ingredients.
