Hofbräuhaus is one of my favourite place to go for German food in Melbourne. Now, they begin serving brunch every Sunday at the Alpine Bar from 11am-3pm. It surely excites me to see what kind of Bavarian breakfast they come up with, it made me even more curious because the menu is not yet publish online so I can't get a peek.

Frühstücksplatte (29.5). This is the most luxurious breakfast platter available, so beautifully plated, full with delicious cured meats, Alpine cheese, boiled eggs, German rye bread and Obatzda. It's nice to share this between friends while chatting at the end of the meal, making it more relaxing and enjoyable.

Weisswurst Frühstücks ($19.5). I never had my German sausage in a poaching broth before and surprise how much I like it. The texture of the sausage is much more softer it is when it's poached. Never underestimate freshly baked bretzel, it's warm, smell so good and addictive with the sweet Bavarian mustard.

Kaiserschmarrn ($17.5) and Krapfen ($13). Kaiserschmarrn is actually a result of a historical pancake accident, shredded pancake, making it crunchy on the outside and still fluffy inside with simple classic toppings of fruit and cream. I actually enjoyed this dish so much and would love to eat it again. Same goes to Krapfen - house made donut accompanied by vanilla sauce and plum compote.

Größe Frühstücks ($24.5). I normally don't order big breakfast but this big breakfast is different and enhanced with full on Bavarian style. The bretzel was so delicious, together with the egg, Kassler, Bratwurst and Sauerkraut, topped with Bavarian mayo. The perfect heavy hang over breakfast or just when you are really hungry. Yum!

I was amazed with the overall menu, it's different than regular brunch menu and it does give it a flare. I didn't know that Bavarian breakfast could be so delicious and suitable for your stomach in the morning. The pretzel and sausages are definitely my favourite. I will definitely come back for more with my family.
