Mamak is an award winning and a popular restaurant based in Sydney. People used to line up, including me in front of their restaurant even before they are open. When they finally came to Melbourne, people used to line up in front of their store too but somehow now the crowd has die down, left them with sufficient crowd but no where near where it was before.

I was a fan of Mamak back in the days just because I love Malaysian food especially various roti and of course teh tarik. So once in a while I like to revisit mamak for what they are known for, their roti and authentic Malaysian food.

Roti Telur ($8) and Nasi Lemak - coconut rice, sambal, peanuts, crispy anchovies, cucumber, hard boiled egg ($10.5). Both were as good as I remembered it to be. I do think the roti was a bit too expensive but it does taste good, crisp on the outside, flavourful inside but rich curry dipping sauce. Nasi Lemak on the other hand was decent with a generous portion.

It was another good visit to Mamak but nowadays there are plenty of authentic and fusion Malaysian restaurant, that maybe they need to step up their game in promotion and adding new innovative dishes to their menu.
