Cecconi's has been resided at Flinders Lane from 2006, they moved from their original location at Soutbank. It has a long history starting with Melbourne’s ‘Bortolotto family’. They have created a successful modern Italian restaurants, starting with Bortolotto’s Café Menis in Fitzroy Street St Kilda. Overtime, with collaborations it grows more and more into an established restaurants.

I have visited Cecconi's a couple times before in the past, it never disappoints. My whole family loves their pasta as well as their execution on other dishes. Started with Virgin Strawberry Mojito. At first, I was offered prosecco but I turned it down, thinking to get moscato at the end. But I completely loving the food that I don't want to waste my stomach space for a drink.

Crispy grilled quail wrapped in pancetta, sage, grilled figs, vincotto ($30) and Seared scallops, cucumber, green apple, dill, onion crisps ($32). Perfect starters. Perfectly cooked scallops, a bit crisp on the outside but still raw in the middle with fresh apple as well as just a touch of cucumber, topped with tasty crisp onion. Then flavourful tender quail with crispy skin, not oily at all with salty pancetta and charred figs. Delicious.

Potato gnocchi, duck ragu, fresh tomato, wild mushrooms ($32) and Special of the day; Moreton bay bug spaghettini. Melt in your mouth gnocchi, possibly the best gnocchi in Melbourne with rich creamy duck ragu and earthy mushroom. My son loves it so much so does his dad. It must be fate that the special of the day is moreton bay bug spaghettini. Al dente pasta, lightly sauced but still flavourful with perfectly cooked moreton bay bug. I just wish there were more pieces of moreton bay bug in it, cause I love em.

Crispy slow roasted duck, beetroot puree, wilted chard, duck jus ($50). Everything was well paced until the gap between pasta and duck. We waited quite a bit for it, I guess it's because the restaurant is getting busier at night. Duck skin is amazingly crispy, well done! They also cut the portion into two because both me and my husband is sharing the dish, it's how considered they are. Even though it's not that necessary since I'm use to eating from the same plate as him. Beetroot puree that comes with was light so the duck jus flavour comes as a more prominent flavour, which I love.

Warm soft-centered chocolate pudding, fior di latte gelato ($23) and Tiramisu - sponge soaked in kahlua, strega, coffee, mascarpone cheese ($22). There's something about hot and cold dessert that I love so much, melted chocolate cake, abundant soft centered but remain light and not too sweet topped with gelato. I could eat this everyday. That's what I thought until I tasted the tiramisu. Fluffy, light tiramisu with perfect balanced of cheese and coffee, not too strong in alcohol. Then I thought, I could this everyday too. I'm definitely in trouble.

I'm always nervous about bringing my kid to and invite or a fine dining restaurant. Because kids is unpredictable and as well behave as my kid, anything could happen. It does not stop me for bringing him around, though. I figure, it's a learning experience for him too, experience different environment, people and food. They have given us a corner seats, which is perfect, he can sit in the sofa with me. All the staff were very understandable even make jokes with me. He made him feel comfortable so he behave and even eat a tons of food. Happy kid. Happy mother.
