Thai Rani is a casual dining Thai fusion restaurant, located in Black Rock. The restaurant decorated in dark wood colour with a lil bit of Thai flair here and there. It's a great place for casual weekdays night dinner or to hang out on weekend since they have a couple big tables for families or groups. They also served wine to suit your mood.

Justin, the owner of the restaurant recommend so many things to us and even I feel I already order most of his recommendation, he still adds more in the end. There are six of us that night with two children among us. Started with the classic Iced Thai Milk tea, a touch too sweet for me but most thai milk tea are too sweet for me.

Chilli Wonton - greenvale pork, fresh vegetables, Rani's signature special chilli sauce ($9.9), Snow White Dancing Prawns - lightly wok fried king prawns, sweet tangy mayo, honey glazed cashew nuts ($13.9). The chilli wonton looked spicy but it's not really that spicy cause it has sweetness to balance it up. We love the dancing prawn, super crunchy and strong in seasoning.

Tom Yum and Tom Kha. We ordered small served of the soup, just because we wanted a lil bit of the taste of both. Their tom yum is spicy yet refreshing but not too sour with generous succulent prawns inside. Same for tom kha but the only differences is tom kha has coconut milk in it making it less spicy and super creamy. I rarely prefer tom kha than tom yum cause I love tom yum so much but this time tom kha win.

Special of the day; Penang Curry Duck - coconut milk, capsicums, crushed peanuts, Thai basil, kaffir lime ($19.9) and Seafood combination. Generous pieces of slice duck, we enjoyed that the most despite the curry was a lil bit too thin for us. I noticed they use the same vegetables on almost all of their dish, especially stir fry. Seafood combination is something Justin put in, in our order. Perfectly cooked seafood with generous portions.

Treasure Hunt @ Mt Buller ($24.9). This is where the fun part kicks in, this is their speciality and Justin insist we order it. A bit of the drama, came in with smokes through out the table. The way to eat it is to fish through the ice and find a lil bit of this and that. The meat suppose to be hot but we finding it cold as well but the fruit is a nice touch to the pork. We also find this pork dish is more similar to Chinese dish rather than Thai.

Rani Special Fried Rice, Pla Sam Rod - crispy rockling fillet with 3 flavour sauce ($23.9) and Thai Fried Rice. Easy to eat, not too much bone and rich in sauce. We love this dish so much, despite the colour, it does not taste spicy. Perfect combination with the fried rice.

Banana Fritters and Campfire - 70% dark chocolate milk, charred vanilla marshmallow, smoked ice cream, maple smoke, hint of apple smoke ($9.5). Another fun part kick in, the campfire is our favourite of the night. Come in with a lil bit of smoke drama and we have to mixed in the component. Love the smokey burnt flavour on the dark chocolate. We can't stop eating it.

A touch disappointment in the waiting time. We came in for an early dinner at 6pm and the food did take some time to be served. A bit struggling cause we have hungry kids on the table but Justin did say they rarely got kids as a customer so they don't have the experience before. Besides Justin, there's only one female staff helping him, so they are clearly underwhelm cause the restaurant was full.
