Two Birds One Stone (Revisited-Invited)

Two Birds One Stone is a place I have visited many times before even from they first open. Now, it has become one of the strong cafe that remains open after all these year. This is a huge achievement in Melbourne, cause most cafe close after a year or so because of the super strong competition. Just be frank, new cafe open almost every week with brand new menu and concept. Two Birds One Stone with it's simple interior and humble food remain strong in the heart of South Yarra.

Pan Seared Salmon - potato rosti, broccoli, roasted cauliflower, almond flakes, poached egg ($21). We ordered this for my kid but ended up liking it our self. The vegetables on the tables completely over shadowed the slightly over cooked salmon. Vegies was flavourful, fresh, cooked nicely and only slightly seasoned to bring the wonderful natural flavour inside.

Confit Duck Salad - grilled corn, edamame, freekeh, pomegranate seeds, brown rice, hazelnuts ($21). My husband was a lil bit disappointed when the dish came in cause he was expecting to see a whole duck confit in it. Instead he only saw shredded of duck in it. He wanted more meat in it even though the salad was super beautiful. It was light but flavourful and filling at the end.

Twice Cooked Brioche French Toast - fresh banana, chocolate sauce, vanilla anglaise, macadamia nut praline ($18). This dish was pretty heavy cause the french toast was closer more to a cake than a regular french toast. Not complaining because it's good but better to be shared if you order this dish for a dessert. The other ingredients does not help lighten up the dish as well cause banana, chocolate sauce and macadamia nut praline was pretty grounded. Vanilla anglaise is the only saving grace to lighten the dish up a lil bit.
