Melba is the most well known and popular luxurious buffet in Melbourne. It has been a staple for a long time, residing in the elegant Langham Hotel. It was named after the famous Australian operatic soprano, Dame Nellie Melba. Melba open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and also events. They have been consistent in delivering variety of classic dishes as well as brand new innovative area to the buffet scene.

My friend, Kim has recently join The Langham team and she invited me down for their brand new Sushi and Sake night. Happens every Thursday for the month of September and October for $94. Sadly, I was away but when I came back, I reach out to her than turns out her boss, Tara is hosting another dinner with a couple influencers. Tara is an amazing career woman and has been in media and food industry for over 20 years. She greeted me straight away and offer me a brand new innovative gin and tonic. The colour it self was sweet and calm, minty green with a thick sweet foam, taste like a meringue on top. Oh, I love it so much.

Melba got one of the freshest sashimi in Melbourne, cause they order in bulk, it means they get the first pick of everything. So there's no doubt that it is amazing and they also have a wide ranges of variety and special's of the day.

In terms of their hot food, they also have special's Japanese addition on Thursday such as chicken curry, cha soba (green tea soba), wafu steak, yakitori and more. They really committed to it, they also have seaweed, edamame on the salad bar and of course green tea dessert. Another surprise, black sesame ice cream and yuzu cheesecake.

Sushi and Sake night has a slightly different menu every Thursday but the fresh sashimi remains as well as the type of Sake they served; Uomuma Jyunmai, Kikumasamune Kouji (Cold) and Rokkushu No Jyouzen (Sweet and Served Cold). Sake pairing is available from $8-$20, very reasonable price for Sake from Japan. Sake is not normally my drink cause it tends to have the bitter ends and I like sweet but oh myy their sweet sake is amazing. Totally changes my mind about sake, it's almost as sweet as dessert wine and I love that.

PS: The image in this post belongs to Melba. Sadly, I loss one of my camera otw home from the event. :(
