Rock Sugar (Revisited-Invited)

Rock Sugar is an Asian fusion casual dining and I was there when they first opened, I love em. Just be coincidence, it was open by a Chef I known as well. Then when the email comes by with a invitation and a $100 voucher to come in and review their updated version of menu. Both me and my husband jumped in joy. Yes, that's how much we love the experience before.

Hiramasa Kingfish - Nam jim, crispy shallots, chilli salt, salmon roe ($19). I was pretty disappointed by the portion, the fish was cut smaller than most restaurant but oh my the flavour was there. Super fresh, light, ended with a kick. Love it. I could eat way way more of this dish.

Red Curry - Duck leg, pineapple, young bamboo, snake bean, asparagus ($27). A big chunk of duck leg sitting in flavourful deep rich red curry. Fall in love straight away. The duck still has crispy skin but melt in your mouth meat, literally fall of the bones. Pineapple gives extra sourness and freshness to break through the rich curry. Love. Love. Love. Would definitely order this again.

Whole Baby Snapper - Yellow bean, crispy shallots, chilli salt ($35). I ordered this dish before and love it, so I wonder whether it's still gonna be the same and it is. It says a lot about their consistency. The presentation it self is mind blowing, it's common to serve fish this way in Asia but not that common in Australia. Super crispy skin, my husband chomping on the fish tail and we pretty much clear out the meat. Yum!

Mango Tango - coconut panna cotta, peanut and almond cookie crumble ($13). Ended with my favourite panna cotta. Yes, please don't be bored. Cause I just love panna cotta. This one is slightly heave and the peanut and cookie crumble makes it even heavier but still enjoyable cause the whole flavour works.

After all that food, we were thinking $100 is a bit insufficient for two person at Rock Sugar. $150-$200 would be much nicer. Cause we were still pretty hungry and we didn't even had an allowance to taste any of their Rocktails. I also remember before the price was lower and the portions was bigger but seriously the taste of the food is just as good.
