Short Straw (Revisited-Invited)

Short Straw is a place I have been invited many times before and I always love my experience there. They do have a good presentation as well as charming section at the back with pots drawing on the wall. They are relatively close to Glenferrie station too, making it easy to reach and good for the students.

Poké Bowl - Multigrain rice & cured sesame seed salmon, sweetcorn, soybeans, avocado, wakame & ponzu dressing ($16.5) is always something that I look forward in the menu and Short straw version of poke bowl has impressed me last time and it did again. The rice was soaked in the dressings making it flavourful and generous avocado added an extra element in it. Salmon was cold, fresh and tasty. Topped with sweetcorn and fresh wakame. Love.

Bubble & Squeak - Caramelised prawn & chorizo, purple potato, red cabbage, fried egg, cape ($18.5) add avocado ($4). It's charming that it comes with a real bubble. Genius. The purple potato was surprisingly sweet and nicely done with prawn, chorizo and egg. Giving it the salty flavour it needed. Prawn elevated the dish a lil bit more to the luxury side.

Stacks On Waffles - Saffron and caramelised banana waffles injected with wild strawberry coulis, topped w/ lemon curd, whipped cream & chocolate macarons (17.5). Comes in a very beautiful presentations. Again, kudos to Short Straw. Waffles have crunchy outer layer and fluffy inside, my favourite with fun injected strawberry coulis. Lemon curd makes it a lil bit more fresh to balances all the sweetness.
