Ten One Ate (Revisited-Invited)

The last time I went personally to Ten One Ate, being not invited.  I had a terrible experience, I was pregnant and the service was rude and the food were below average. When I got invited, a second chance is always my thing.

We start with taro latte - which I really enjoyed and so fragrant. One of the asian drink beside matcha latte that you can try. The mocha was good as well - the coffee was not too strong with more chocolate on top.

Tried their special: Poke Bowl with Flaked salmon, cherry tomatoes, avocado, stirred fried capsicum, cucumber, edamame beans on white rice with shoyu dressing. The poke bowl was using a well done salmon instead of the usual raw salmon. The portion is quite generous with various elements inside but I would prefer to have the elements cut in smaller bits to enjoy various elements in a spoon. The avocado was also a bit too ripe for my likings and hence the texture was a bit too soft for the poke bowl and the color was a bit not colorful in the plate. Taste wise it was okay but I would prefer to have more seasonings in the plate other than the soyu.

Corn and Zucchini Fritters with avocado, tomato and red onion salsa, grilled asparagus and poached egg. This fritters is gluten free since it’s using blue corn flours. The fritter was fried well, crispy on the outside and soft inside. The texture inside is a bit gritty since it’s using blue corn flour, but I guess I still prefer to have the non gluten free one. The garnish was go along well with the fritters but again I think I prefer to have a greener avocado for the dish.

Blueberry Waffles with blueberry compote, shaved white chocolate, blueberry ice cream and honey roasted macadamias. Definitely my favorite of the day. The waffle served warm and the texture is just right. Not too dense and not too sweet and the blueberry compote was just beautiful and goes well together with the ice cream.

Nutella Mousse with chocolate biscuit base, strawberries, nuts and mascarpone. One simple dessert done right. The mouse was so smooth and beautiful without too sweet. The strawberries give the acidic balance on the sweetness and the I just like how the bottom biscuit base give you various texture added to the mousse. As a bonus, it looks beautiful in the picture as well :) Overall, it was an okay experience. Food coming quick and the service was good as well.
