Basta means "that's enough" in Italian, also means "stop" in Spanish. The friendly owner, Carrie was sharing an interesting story behind the name and the restaurant. They also have happy hours $10 for selected cocktail on Monday-Thursday from 5pm-7pm and 12-7PM on Friday and Saturday. The vibe is romantic, classic with classy authentic decoration. The service is also incredible, the waitress is very friendly and looking after us very well.

They gave us a housemate focaccia bread which is is a flat oven-baked Italian bread that similar to pizza doughs. It seasoned just with olive oil and salt

We ordered Calamari Antipasti($16) to start. Antipasti itself is a traditional first course of a formal Italian meal. It has smokey warm cauliflower, dehydrated olives, barley and a bit of sourness from roasted tomato. The calamari is very tender and has a very strong flavour but not fishy. This antipasti remind me of tomato base from a pizza.

Maltagliati Al Nero($29) is my choice for the main, it is house-made maltagliati and yes it is black because of the squid ink. It has king prawns, calamari, saffron and tomato consomme. The maltagliati is really soft and the tomato balancing this seafood dish. If you are not feeling something fishy, then this dish is not for you because it has a strong flavour of seafood. I got Bellini Cocktails and I think it is a good company for the squid ink pasta because it is a sweet yet refreshing prosecco base drinks.

Another main is Porcini Mushroom Risotto($28). Definitely the flavour of truffle oil is our highlight. It is perfect for gluten free and vegan person. They are also generous for the parmesan, its everywhere!

After those filling food, we still got tempted by the special of the day which is home-made cheesecake. It is basically home-made cheesecake with hazelnut crumbs and berries on the top, it also have chocolate ganache and cream on the side. The cheesecake consistency is just right, not too heavy not too light, yet the chocolate ganache is not too heavy. For sure will come back to try the others authentic Italian menu!
