Tavlin is an intimate restaurant in Caulfield South, it focus on various Middle Eastern coming from Tripoli to Tel Aviv and Morocco to Damascus. Owned by the Chef it self Adi Daboush and his wife helping in the front house. Aim to reinvent his childhood dish, some of it comes from his grandma Esther. Dishes at Tavlin are best to be shared cause you will want to try many of their delicious dishes, it's hard to choose. They are also widely known for their homemade hummus, which is sold over 80kg/week.

Adi arrived in Melbourne (2004) after his travels around the world to amazing places such as Middle East, Europe, Asia and more. He also worked in many restaurants and finally it all inspires him yo opened Tavlin in October 2012. Tavlin is the Hebrew word for spice which I think it's suits them nicely. Adi was being so nice to us during our whole visit and served us so many food that we could not help to take away because we are so full and that day was so hot so Adi did say that on a very hot day, apetite decrease and you feel full way faster. To start with super amazing dips with pita bread.

6 Falafel Balls with Green Tahini - crispy chickpea, herb patties, served with green tahini sauce ($8). Additional Falafel ($1.5). One of the best falafel I ever tasted in Melbourne. Even my lil kid, love it too. And it's all vegies inside.

We were served two types of Kibbeh: Lamb and Pine Nut Kibbeh - homemade finely ground cracked wheat and spices stuffed with prime lamb, pine nuts, onion ($9/3pcs) and Pumpkin Spinach and Fetta Kibbeh - homemade spiced pumpkin and spinach with fetta cheese ($9/3pcs). Additional kibbeh ($3).

Moroccan Beef Cigars -homemade delicately spiced minced beef and onions, wrapped in fine pastry served on green tahini ($10.5/3pcs). Additional cigar ($3.5). One of my favourite, melt in your mouth with crunchy pastry on the outer layer.

Fried Cauliflower - Cauliflower florets fried in egg batter ($9). The best thing in the house is their humble fried cauliflower, simply could not stop eating it. Love it so much and if vegies taste like this, I think all kid will have no problem in eating it.

At this point we were pretty full but we wanted to try the skewers; Grilled Kofta Skewer -freshly minced veal and lamb from select farms in Western Australia ($8) and Grilled Chicken Skewer - marinated for over 24 hours in Tavlin’s authentic Syrian seasoning ($8). I love their skewers so much that I want to go back and try more of them. So tender, flavourful and perfectly grilled.

Chocolate and Hazelnut Mousse - home made, creamy and delicious ($9.9) and Malabi - Rosewater custard served ($9.9). Clean our plate so quickly on both of this dessert. Must try guys, the perfect ending to a flavourful meal.

Tavlin is a must to visit in Melbourne. It's one of the best Middle Eastern food I have tasted in Melbourne and the price are so reasonable that you can order more or take away for the next day. Yes, they are that good.
