Wayside Inn located in the border line of Southbank and South Melbourne. It has two seperate area of casual bar and a more refine dining area. Serving fresh high quality produce of Modern Australian dishes. They are also proud with their rotisserie style cooking such as cooking premium steaks over smoking wood fired grills.

I went in on a weekdays dinner time and stumble upon their daily happy hour 4-6pm. There are also a couple other people in the dining room about to have some dinner just like us. Unlike most bar, their dining area welcomes children as they have high chairs and kids menu.

Starters begin with Japanese 7-spice calamari ($19) and Chicken Parfait ($19). We love the Japanese calamari so much, it's very well cooked and packed with wonderful flavours but beware they are a bit spicy and it builds up. Also beware of the kimchi that comes with it, so spicy. Contrary to the calamari, I don't quite like the dense chicken parfait. I expect it to be smoother and melts in your mouth.

Five spice whole duck ($45) and Rost biff Kobe wagyu ($50). The duck was very cheap for it's size and best to be shared as well. Even though it taste good, it needed to be tender than it would be perfect. The steak catch my eye straight away when it says kobe and yes it's really good. They cooked it nicely, tender and accompany by delicious mushroom sauce.

Lemon myrtle & buffalo curd panacotta ($18). The ending wasn't that spectacular. I love panna cotta light and smooth but sadly this version of panna cotta does not hold any of that. Even though the combination of lemon myrtle and buffalo curd match nicely.
