I just finish my trip to the Melbourne zoo with my kid, this is the first time we bring him to the zoo and it's also the first time for both of us to visit the Melbourne zoo. Another first time for my husband to visit any zoo besides back home in Indonesia, years a go. A lot of first time in one day. Funny thing is, it's also our first time visiting Code Black Coffee cafe.

We been wanting to but since we have a kid, going miles away for food it's getting harder and harder. Lucky us, Melbourne zoo is located near by to this famous cafe. We arrived right on time before the rush hour. Starting with chai latte which I found is already sweet without the honey they come with.

We had; Crispy duck leg, potato & spring onion waffle sandwich with chipotle infused maple syrup & a fried egg ($22) and Spanner crab omelette, tomato, fennel, orange, mint, chilli & linpop toast ($23).Sadly, both of these dish were disappointing. The duck leg was delicious, super crispy, love the fatty skin so much with tender meat but that's about it. Waffle was fine but the sauce was off putting both me and my husband don't like it. Than the omelette was so dense, over cooked and needed more crab in it for the price they sell it for.

I really, really, really want to love this cafe. Especially since I love their coffee business. Another plus point is their modern, charming cafe with spacey indoor area and a lil bit of outdoor area, perfect for the season.
