Billy Central (Invited)

Billy Central comes from the name of the son of English immigrants, who moved to Australia. He's name is William Bourke, nick name "Billy". He fell in love with Australia produce, like many others. He love farming, fishing even did a little bit of naughtiness such ad joy riding in his tractors or stealing the neighbour's vegetable. His food appreciation grows as his palate.

I went in on a weekdays lunch time and met James, the man who invited me in. He's an Asian man from China, kind enough to sit with me for a while and give me a brief explanation of the place. He has to leave soon after because they have catering for Hamilton at F1. How amazing is that?

Dippy Eggs - truffled pecorino soldiers, relish ($12), bacon crumb ($3) and smashed avocado ($5). This is my favourite out of all. Love the presentation to bits, with egg crates underneath. Perfectly cooked egg, runny yolk with beautiful flavourful bacon crumb as well as lil bit spicy relish and creamy avocado. This would be my go to breakfast anytime. I would like the truffle flavour to be stronger please.

This is one of James recommendation. Pastrami Benedict - blackmore pastrami, poached eggs, pickled dill, potato waffle, brown butter hollandaise ($19.5). Amazingly tall savoury dish presentation, abundant hollandaise with super buttery flavour. Yum! The sweet potato and potato waffle is super crispy but remain creamy inside. We love this dish too.

According to James, this is the best sweet dish they have; Dark Chocolate Hot Cake - raspberries, meringue crumbs, apple sorbet, raspberry infused almond milk ($18). Sadly, this is the least of our favourite, out of the three. The cake is a lil bit dense and heavy and the combination of ingredients a bit clash here and there.

Billy Central have two seperate room; inside the store decorated in woods and plants, outside the store with open space over looking the bridge from Melbourne Central to Emporium. They do have high chairs and I think the open space is perfect for kids and prams. On top of that, they have lunch menu, ranging around $15 for a quick meal. To me, that's pretty good.
