Charisma Workshop High Tea (Invited)

Charisma Workshop is a cute petit cafe hidden in the alley way of Melbourne CBD. Another gem in the middle of busy city. If you are looking for peace and quiet to study, work or just a quick coffee meeting, this is the perfect place for you. Even though it's small, it is nicely decorated and does not seem to be too cramp which is nice.

I was originally invited to taste their brunch dishes but then their high tea comes to my radar. Luckily, Matthew said the high tea is brand new and not yet available to public, he gladly allow me to taste it first. We also scheduled in another date for tasting their breakfast speciality so second blog post is in the making.

The high tea set ($48) includes one hot or cold beverages and one homemade chocolate for each person. A glass of  French Sparkling is available for $5 extra. We started with coffee and hot chocolate for my friend. The hot chocolate was creamy and so delicious, it was their own blend. For chocolate lovers, this is perfect for you.

We started off with the bottom savoury layer; Mini Smoked Salmon Brioche filled with cream cheese, capers and rocket. I found the red brioche a lil bit dry but besides that no fault was found. Then move on to the Trio Sandwich; Egg Sandwich with parsley, Chicken Sesame with wasabi mayo, Prawn Potato Salad Sandwich with carrot, zuchini, prawn oil. My favourite was the creamy egg sandwich but all of the sandwich was flavourful, normally sandwich tend to taste a lil blend, these sandwich are exception.

The bottom tier also have Homebaked Scones. It's fresh baked buttermilk scones made in the house, accompanied by chantilly cream and homemade jam. This is one of the best scones I have ever tasted, it has crispy sweet outer layer and warm fluffy inside. I would gladly buy this to take home and have it for breakfast with my family.

The middle tier started from the very left is Passionfruit and Vanilla Slice with passionfruit jelly, vanilla buttercream, chocolate sponge. One of my favourite out of all since I always love the combination of passionfruit, vanilla and chocolate. I want more. Next is the Peanut and Raspberry Dome with peanut mousse, raspberry jelly, peanut sable. Another, delicious piece of cake, the raspberry and peanut just work really well. Then another one of my favourite, Pistachio Financier with pistachio white chocolate ganache. The financier it self was so fluffy with sugary glace outer layer and creamy ganache on top. Love. Love. Love.

The top layer filled with Citrus Ginger Verrines with ginger ale jelly, strawberry gel and lemon mousse. Somehow this fall slightly too sweet but still the unique flavour combination works really well as a surprise. We also have the two homemade chocolate in the middle, rum raisin is my preferences out of the two but there's plenty of room for improvement on the chocolate department. Last piece is the Soft Centred Black Currant jelly with yoghurt mousse tart. Such a cute detail to make the currant jelly shape like heart, make sure to eat it all at once cause it will pop up and burst in your mouth. A fun way to finish the elegant high tea.

For the price, the portion is just nice. Perfect not to make you bloated but leave you full enough. They also have a range of authentic Japanese tea for the Japanese tea enthusiast, this is a must try. I want to try their matcha latte and houjicha tea next time.
