Osteria Ilaria

Osteria Ilaria is considered the sibling of the hyper specific restaurant Tipo 00, not only that, they are operating next door. As everybody knows and almost everybody agrees that Tipo 00 is amazing and it's still hard to get a table there. Osteria Ilaria has a big reputation to prove and so far people has been loving it so I decided to come in and try.

We started with Hervey bay scallop, cauliflower hollandaise ($8ea) and Prawn Spaghettini. My first time trying cauliflower hollandaise, it's nice but it over shadows the scallop a lil bit. The prawn spaghettini is the one thing that I found no fault. Aldente past, very well seasoned, light but still flavourful. Yum!

Roast corn-fed duck, radicchio, hazelnuts ($46) and Dry aged O’Connor’s porterhouse, smoked marrow butter ($44). Both of these dish was decent but both needs to be a lil bit more tender as some of the pieces were still a bit hard.

Pink Peppercorn Semi Fredo. I do not like the taste of peppercorn in the semi fredo, I think it's a bit too strong and sharp. The fresh mango did help but still does not make the whole dish shine for me. Maybe I should have pick something else.

I do think that the price range is higher than tipo 00 even though the portions was comparable but a bit small. In terms of taste, their pasta is good but the others can be improved to higher level. It does have a lot of potential and more space to dine in.
