Third Wave (Revisited-Invited)

We got the invitation to Third Wave Cafe on Port Melbourne on the October and decided to go at the end of November. We reserved for 2 people but when we arrived they didn't have our booking details and clueless about blogger reservation because of communication issues in their management, however, we still have a seat as the restaurant not full at that time.

The cafe is not too big neither small, it is still fit for group of 8 and it has a good ambience to chill. When I looked through the menu, this cafe has a big menu with variety of choice from breakfast till alcoholic drinks.

Because the weather was extremely hot at that day, I want to enjoy all tropical fruits flavour, thus, I ordered Pina Colada Milkshake which is mixed of lime and coconut. It was refreshing with a strong taste of coconut and vanilla ice cream. The colourful sprinkles on the top make this drink attractive and it is a mood booster drink indeed; a cold pleasant drink.

I asked for recommendation from the staff because there were heaps of interesting menu to choose, unfortunately they didn't give us any guide so we ordered one of their new menu which is Mac Bomb-On-Steroids. To be honest I didn't expect it will come with this big size. A brioche bun with 2 hour slow-smoked streaky bacon wrapped patty, mac and cheese, 12-hour slow-smoked deboned beef ribs, liquid cheese, mustard, pickles and spicy BBQ sauce. Topped with fresh onion rings and beer battered chips. It was a big meal to eat which perfect for a hungry lunch. The beef ribs is tender, juicy and melted in your mouth and the liquid cheese is awesome. Definitely a worth dish to try and be ready for confusion how to eat and finish it!

As they are famous of their BBQ menu, we tried the pork ribs with the side of chicken wings. To be honest it was not good as I expected. The ribs are dry and in my opinion it was not fresh but it has sufficient taste. It served with QueYou Spicy BBQ sauce and Apple Bourbon sauce; the sauces helped the dish a lot, after I put QueYou Spicy sauce the dish taste better. The chicken wings were smoked and grilled with their QueYou and Nectar, it cooked enough and has a good smoky taste.

Overall I am satisfied with their mac and cheese burger but need a little bit improvement on their BBQ dish and their service need to be more organised.
