Southside Central (Invited)

Southside Central recently opened in the Chapel St near Windsor station, Southside Central bring you a hip and funky bar burger shop style into the neighbourhood. We’re talking about nice, spacious, great space to chill kind of place complete with rooftop bar and DJ on weekend. If you are a big fan of instagram-able place, this is the place you’re looking for. It’s literally Hosier Lane put inside a funky bar slash restaurant.

We first greeted by Kayna and she showed us around the restaurant. It is a two-storey building with rooftop bar, great music and vibe. This place also provide several areas that are perfect to book for small event like birthday celebration or even bridal shower if you want it.

Mac and cheese nuggets with spicy mayo and pickle mayo - oh I love the nuggets. Very crispy on the outside and not oily at all but still very warm inside. Perfect nibbles to just hangout with your mates over drinks. Caitylyn, the manager really recommended this bites since it is really popular among the customer along with the Jalapeno poppers.

Jalapeno poppers with sour cream - I love this one so much. The batter I guess was pretty similar with mac and cheese nuggets. Crispy and even after I ate after I finished the burger, the poppers still very crispy and nice. Love the japaleno inside and the cream cheese. I dipped it with spicy mayo and pickle mayo from the mac and cheese nuggets instead. I think I literally can order plain chips and dip it with the spicy pickle mayo. Truly the star. The jalapeno was not too spicy - probably because it’s off season, usually it’s much spicier. But alas, it is still very enjoyable already.

Fancy fries - Taco Fries: Fries with taco style dressed with salsa and guacamole - in paste style and sprinkled with cheese. Underneath hides the fully coated chips with peri-peri sauce. You really want to enjoy it straight away otherwise the top chips will be soggy from the sauce.

Hot Mama - “self saucing” chilli and cheese stuffed beef pattie queso fresco (mexican taco cheese), ghost chilli and mayo, taco salsa in a butter toasted bun. Recommended for mild-spiciness lover. The spiciness was not over the top, the sauce is generous but not too much that makes the bun soggy. I quite enjoyed the burger.

The Southside Meat Market - Beef pattie, southern fried chicken, American cheddar, shredded lettuce, social sweet n sour & Japanese mayo in butter toasted bun. It is quite a big and burger (I even have not yet tried the biggest burger in the menu). The fried chicken was fried well and not oily at all, you can taste the herbs and seasoning in the chicken well. But when you eat it together with the burger, you can only mildly taste the chicken altogether. The burger is enjoyable but I would prefer the Hot Mama than this one.

Spiked Milkshake : Redskin spiked with Belvedere Vodka. Cute lookin strawberry milkshake spiked with Vodka topped whipped cream and colorful sprinkles. It is not too sweet so it’s good and you can always opt for no alcohol if you want to.

Passionfruit Caiprioska : vodka, lime wedges, brown sugar over fresh passion fruit and puree and crushed ice. Such fresh and sweet and sour alcoholic drink perfect to enjoy it outdoor in the rooftop bar over the sun - only if today was not too windy it will be perfect. I always have a soft spot for Passionfruit so I might be biased but this one is really nice and fresh cocktail.

I would totally come back and bring my mates to hangout and catch up here and just enjoying the sun on the rooftop bar over my fave bites and drinks. Nice place and great ambiance with amazing funky design and reasonable food price.
