LadyBoy (Invited)

LadyBoy owned by Manpreet, the same owner as one of my favourite restaurant for roti, Sabai, also located in Richmond area. LadyBoy is made just like Sabai's younger sister in terms of taste profile and to the point menu system. The special aspects of LadyBoy is fun, vibrant and full of party vibe. The place it self is like a party in the street of Thailand.

I met Manpreet back in Sabai, since then me and my friend that went with me fall in love with Sabai deeply. I have come back several times so does my friends, they even bring their whole family with them when they visit from Indonesia. Little do I know that Manpreet is actually a friend of my uni friend husband. What a small world. I started with their super refreshing and energetic Virgin Black Forrest and Virgin Lychee Long Time. I do recommend trying their cocktails, I would if I can.

Gai Tod - crispy fried chicken, spicy tamarind chilli sauce, pickled onion ($14) and Thai Ceviche - house cured salmon, roe, green namjim, coconut foam ($16). Manpreet told me that I have tried their gai tod at Sabai and thinks that it's average but I feel that it's a different dish. He explained that the one in Sabai has the sauce on the side and here at LadyBoy they mixed it up straight away. I love the LadyBoy version much better so does my husband. In terms of the ceviche, I like the coconut foam so much but I like the salmon a bit more on the rare side. That's just my preferences but my husband seems to love it anyway.

Pad See Ew - slow cooked pork belly, Chinese broccoli egg, rice noodles ($18.5) and Slow Braised Lamb Shank Massaman - potato, cashews ($22.9) with roti, satay sauce ($8). Both of this dish were awesome and on the sweeter side. If you read my review on Sabai, you know how good is their lamb massaman curry and roti. No explanation needed. But the pad see ew is just as good, my husband think it's slightly better. Try it and let me know what you think.

Coconut & Pandan Bombe Alaska ($14). This is what I have been waiting for, dessert! I was waiting for the staff to light up the bombe alaska but no one light it up so we started eating. The pandan was delicious, creamy with perfect sweetness matched with the meringue straight away. Would order this again for sure.

LadyBoy has an amazing grafitti through out the venue with open kitchen and bar also outdoor courtyard at the back. Vibrant purple lighting with neon lighting here and there. It's a party on it's own and I love it. They really go all out in decoration and I think it's worth it.
