District North (Invited)

District North has been open for more than a year by now in the suburb of Moone Ponds. I don't go there as much as I like due to the distance from my house. The first time I went there is when they first open and their pandan pancakes is the hottest thing in town. Last time, Andrew the owner was so nice and friendly so I put a note to my self to come back.

Pulled Pork Benedict ($19). Benedict is a must in every cafe, they have to have it all year around on their menu cause it's classic. Cause it's classic, it has to be good and yes District North deliver a good taste once again. The pork shoulder was tender yet flavourful with a nice change than the usual, they put crumpets underneath with some pickled kohlrabi. Abundant creamy bernaise sauce instead of hollandaise and perfectly cooked egg.

Poke ($23). Another popular dish on the market right now, starting from the perfect summer dish turning to favourite all year around. Almost every cafe have their own version, again because of that the standard has rise so high. I love the touch of tobikko on top, bonito flakes and creamy airy avocado mousse, I can eat that everyday. Nicely seasoned salmon with fresh watermelon radish and of course mayo and edamame.

Szechuan Spiced French Toast ($18.5). My husband has been aiming for this since he read the menu online. I love the custard spring roll so much, the custard inside the spring roll was so creamy and fluffy. The lemon lime bitters curd provide a lil bit of freshness combined with the stewed berries and another creamy vanilla mascarpone, ending with szcheuan brandy snaps.

I honestly feel that all the dishes are better than the last time which makes me feel so happy. This time, again Andrew greeted me straight away. I can't believe he still remember how I look like, despite how many people he met everyday and I cut my hair recently. He even remember my husband and glad that I brought the newest edition of my family with me. I think the heart of District North is definitely him, without his passion and love this place wouldn't be as special as it is. He did say he's preparing for new Spring menu so I'll be back.
