Speakseasy (Invited)

Speakeasy has been in Melbourne for almost 6 years. The front door is deceptive, small but they added major signage with lighting bulbs that I love so much. It added glam and attraction to the place. They served all kind of food starting from breakfast till dinner and even more. Wide ranges of wine, liquor with an addition of dessert bar is also available.

I have been Speakseasy before and I do love the venue. Hanging lights, high ceilings, wooden furnitures, beautiful semi outdoor courtyard at the back. It's just charming and making it the perfect venue for functions of any kind. But this is the first time I went up to see their private function room and I do think it's spacey with lots of window. Suitable for business meetings to birthday party or even small wedding. We started with  Rose Latte and Matcha Latte. The rose latte was creamy, sweet and aromatic and the matcha maiden latte was a good as ever.

Looking at the menu, I want to order so many of them but I restrained my self and order one savoury dish since I want two dessert; 200g Chargrilled Porterhouse - fries, salad, bbq jus ($15). Perfectly cooked medium with delicious shiny bbq jus, thinly cut fries and fresh salad. Is it the best steak I have ever taste? No, but for a $15 steak it's damn good in taste, portion and worth.

Here we go! My two dessert; Chocolate Fondant - toasted peanut, salted caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream and Coffee & Amaretto - speakymisu box, coffee sponge cake , amaretto infused mascarpone, cocoa ($12.5 ea). Sadly, the chocolate fondant needed the melting moment inside and it's missing but the flavour was decadent, delicious and not overly sweet. Accompanied by creamy vanilla ice cream, crunchy peanut and sweet caramel, nice partner indeed. We love their tiramisu so much, creamy, rich and would love to come back for this.

At the end of our meal, I wish I have ordered more. Oh well, next time I would love to taste their Honey Brรปlรฉe, Crab Sweet Potato Cakes and more. They have all $15 lunch menu filled with impressive selections and I do think the price is cheap with reasonable portion. Their service was warm, everyone were smiling, making small talk with us including the chef. Also very understanding and accomodating to my baby and his prams. That's a plus point for sure. At the very end the chef gave us a big cookie to take home, nice ending indeed.
