El Mirage (Invited)

El Mirage is a cafe tucked away from the main street. The cafe has been in Melbourne for 10 years but owned by the new owner for 6 years. Serving breakfast and lunch including sandwiches and sweets by Little Bertha.

As soon as we came to El Mirage, we were welcome by Wasim (the host). He was very warm, nice and friendly. We could say that all the floor staffs delivered very high customer service. The café was packed and full of people when we came. The interior design of this café was more like the industrial design with the concrete floor and the table was using the Scandinavian style which was pretty good and well suited with the café’s main theme. Unfortunately, the table set up was to close one to another which makes the place little bit noisy when it gets full of people.

We ordered, Jalapeno Corn Fritter - charred corn, fried halloumi & avocado salsa, poached eggs and a lime & coriander labne with the choice of salmon or bacon **we choose salmon. The corn fritter was very crispy, had perfect balance and great taste. The proper word to describe the dish was fantastic; we really enjoyed every single bite of this corn fritter.

Beef Brisket - slow smoked roasted served with butternut pumpkin puree, a broad bean, confit garlic and snow peas salad with truffle potato mash. On the other hand, the Beef brisket was also great. The portion was really generous and one more thing that makes the dish even better is the truffle potato mash. You could smell the truffle oil perfectly blended in the potato mash, it would definitely increase your appetite.

Both dishes had a very appealing presentation. We couldn’t decide which one was the winner dish on that day, both dishes were great and perfectly cooked. Overall, they’re great dishes and really recommended.
