Amba (Invited)

Café Amba is located in the South Yarra, just in front of Jam Factory. From outside the place looks pretty small actually, but when you come inside they have plenty seats available outside courtyard as well the upstairs. The atmosphere of the place was great and relax, great to hang out with friends.

The first time we came, we’re served by the nice and friendly customer staff named Ellysia (**sorry if I misspell your name). She gave a smile when serving to everyone which was really nice. She was showing the great quality of service for this café. We’re impressed by her professionalism at workplace.

We ordered 2 dishes; Baked Eggs - braised five bean mix, chipolata sausage, watercress, fresh chili & Persian feta ($17.5). The dish was pretty creative as we rarely see the fresh chili used for a breakfast dish. The sausages were actually cooked well and the sauce used in the baked eegs worked pretty well. Since we loved spicy food, there was no issue for us to mix the fresh chili; However, for those who couldn’t eat spicy, we’d suggest to put aside the fresh chili as the base sauce was slightly hot enough.

The Bad Hunter -poached eegs, tomato, truffled mushrooms, spinach, avocado, Haloumi on sourdough toast ($17).The bad hunter portion was pretty generous served with the fresh sourdough toast. The poached eegs were beautifully cooked; Mushrooms and spinash had a delicious taste. It was just right, not overcooked.

The best thing was to cut both poached eegs on top of the fresh soughdough; it was very enjoyable moment when you eat the sourdough covered by the eeg yolk and put the mushroom on top of that.
The price for the food (breakfast / lunch) is average and very reasonable. This place was worth to stop for a brunch.
