Mr Hobsons (Revisited-Invited)

Mr Hobsons is sitting on the famous Station Pier in Port Melbourne, a bit further away from the main shopping area which is suitable for a more relaxed, fine dining experience. Famous for the beautiful location, attract many tourist and locals.

The restaurant it self is divided into several area; cafe's, dining area and small lounging area. It has a breathtaking view over looking the ocean and Williamstown. The cafe area perfect for a quick coffee, or simple breakfast with families but the dining area perfect for a romantic date, luxurious office lunch or functions.

I have been to Mr Hobsons before but it was years a go, I vaguely remember my experience. It's about time I renew my memory. We haven't eat anything since morning so we were famish. Starting with Taro Latte ($5.5),  Fresh Orange Juice, Virgin Blueberry Mojitos ($12) and Strawberry Cucumber Limade ($12). Taro latte was decent as well as the orange juice but the mocktails were amazing in presentation and refreshing flavour.

We begin with their breakfast menu; Baked Eggs - smokey chorizo sausages, parprika potatoes, chives, parmesan, goat cheese, avocado salad ($20) and French Toast - cinnamon, vanilla coated french toast, fresh banana, strawberries, banana mascarpone, auglaise sauce ($18). The baked eggs was not as I expected, it was more like a quiche rather than the saucy baked eggs, taste ok but the main star is the homemade bread. As well as the french toast, the toast it self was delicious. Definitely a must try.

Chicken Liver Pate - pepper, thyme chicken liver pate, homemade sourdough toast ($14), Pan Seared Scallops - truffle oil cauliflower puree, crispy prosciutto ($20), Beef Carpaccio - pepper crusted beef, horseradish aioli, beetroot puree, truffle oil, baby radish, mix herb salad ($18) and Lamb Cutlets - pistachio, mix herb crust, roasted beetroot, goat, cheese, shaved fennel, raspberry vinaigrette ($20). The pate was creamy with no gummy smell, accompanied by yet again delicious homemade bread. Both scallop and lamb needed a view more minutes of resting than it would be perfect. The lamb dish has the lack balance between the meat and salad, there was too much salad on the plate that it overwhelms the dish. My favourite was the perfectly done carpaccio, I literally finish it on my own. Sweet beetroot puree with horseradish and perfectly cooked beef. Yum!

Crispy Skin Barramundi Fillet - polenta chips, roasted cherry tomatoes, grilled vegetables, confit mushroom, salsa verde ($35) and Confit Pork Belly - pork roulade, chorizo, chives croquette, roasted beets, thyme jus, beetroot puree ($33). Both of this dish were really nice. My mom even finished the whole fish even though we have plenty of food before this. Very crispy skin with soft fish and delicious salsa verde. What's not to like? And the pork belly has a super crackling skin with tender meat, nice on point.

Bake Lime Cheesecake - kiwi fruit curd, caramelized pineapple, sesame meringue, tuille biscuit, lemon sorbet ($14). While I was too full, my mom still have some space on her stomach. Yes, it's amazing how much she can eat. The lime was subtle but fresh, one of the best lime cheesecake I have ever tasted but the pineapple was a bit too sour for me. The meringue was really nice not overly sweet, tied with refreshing sorbet. Love it.

Mr Hobsons is perfect for a large group of people as well as stunning functions or simply a place to enjoy the beautiful view of the pier. It has a wide options of breakfast, cafe menu, lunch, dinner, desserts as well as wide ranges of hot drinks, mocktails, cocktails and wine ranges. They definitely needed more staff on the ground, there was only one waitress and she tried as hard as she can but the manager needed to be friendlier. He wanted to move my stroller with my baby on it without a careful consideration. Gratefully, the bartender slash ground staff was helping the female waitress and he was friendly and professional.
