Blue Door

Blue Door is located in the historic Fred Ash building, Wheeler Place. It's one of the cafe I planned to visit in New Castle. Upon entering the cafe, I was surprise of the wide outdoor area covered with umbrella making it pretty accessible on any weather. Inside, it has an industrial vibe with open brick, concrete and wooden furnitures.

They are pretty busy on a Saturday morning, I came in on 10am and they have run out a couple of their cold press juice. Makes me wonder, what time I should be there to get the complete range of their juice. Not that it bother me that much. I was seated on a corner in a communal table, leaving me plenty of space for strollers.

Byron Benedict - soy linseed toast, poached egg, bangalow ham, raw spinach, avocado, kale mayonnaise, seed cracker ($22). This was the highlight of our meal. Super creamy mayonnaise with perfectly cooked egg and salty ham. Just simply perfect to start the day.

Deconstructed Sushi Bowl - seared salmon, avocado, miso mayo, wakame salad, brown rice, pickled vegetables, soy and wasabi ($24). The star of the dish is nicely cooked salmon with rare centre. I would like more of the miso mayo to eat with the raw and pickled vegetables, to tie in everything together even more.

The service was decent but the food take some time to arrived on our table, probably because they are busy and people keep coming, filling in the empty table. Out of all our venture in New Castle, they are the least friendly out of all, not that they are rude. The others just simply very very friendly.
