Amaru is a relatively new contemporary Australian tasting menu, sitting in a small and intimate dining room at Armadale. Clinton Mclver, ex Vue de Monde Sous Chef is the man behind Amaru, a degustation only restaurant. Charging from $85 per head to $155, wines not included. The menu divided to Insight and Sensory selection, from 9-14 servings of small high quality bites.

I saw MasterChef episodes where Mclver appear for immunity challenge and he won. The way he cooks was calm, clean and he definitely has a cool charisma. It makes me and my husband booked one night at his restaurant straight away. We wanted to know how good is he in person. The restaurant offers dining seating or Chef's bar which is a more intimate dining experience with Mclver. We booked the regular dining seating just because we have a baby waiting at home.

Onion, Garfish, Sheep's Milk Yoghurt.

Crispy Fermented Carrot, Lightly Smoked Duck Ham.

Otway Shiitake, Green Onion Oil, Chawanmushi.

Pickled Mussels, Mineral-Baked Celeriac, Mussel Juice, Nasturtium Oil.

Dry Aged Kangaroo, Raw Liquorice, Pickled Quince, Begonia Leaves.

2 Months Old Wagyu, Preserved Truffles, Vintage Rhubarb (extra $30).

Apple Leaves, Jerusalem Artichoke, Beer Caramel.

Digestive Biscuit, Grass Fed Beef Caramel.

We were pretty impressed that every dish delivered by the Chef it self, including Mclver him self. They explained the dish thoroughly and every time we finish one course, the staff asked us how we are going. Their hospitality is definitely top notch.
