A La Bouffe Bar & Bistro pride them self in providing the authentic French taste for the French people in Melbourne, who miss the taste of home. A La Bouffee means let's eat, is trulythe place where people sits down to enjoy their home cook meal. Informal, friendly dining experience in a classy settings. Owned by Jacky Frenot and Gabrielle Dewan, set up A La Bouffe Bar & Bistro in the middle of Prahran and South Yarra shopping precinct, just across the road from the Como Palace Cinema, perfect for before and after movie.


I came across A La Bouffe a couple of months a go, when I was craving for French food but for some reason I went to Bistro Thierry instead. So when my mom recently wanting to eat some French food, A La Bouffe comes to mind. We went there on a weekdays lunch time and I bring my baby a long with me.



Soupe a L'oignon - French onion soup with cheese croutons ($16). Comes in a big white bowl, pretty generous serving. The taste it self was slightly too sour for my self and I want more of the goey cheese on top of the soup.


Escargots a La Bourguignonne - 7 snails in garlic and fennel butter ($21). The fennel butter gives the dish a lil bit of unique flavour. Snails are cooked perfectly and as usual nicely partnered with garlic. I love this dish anywhere.




Ravioli a La Langouste & Crevettes - lobster and prawn ravioli in a creamy bisque sauce ($24). The pasta was slightly under cooked, still a bit tough but the lobster and prawn filling was subtle and flavourful, contrasting with the super creamy tasty bisque sauce.

Cuisse de Canard Confite - duck leg confit with apple cider and calvados sauce, potato sarladaises ($39.9). This was the highlight of our meal. Super delicious sweet salty duck leg confit, very well cooked. Even the potato was perfectly made and tasty. This is a must try this.


From the beginning, the service was warm and friendly. She was very well accomodating to me, my mom and my baby. The food came in pretty fast but well paced and honestly the flavour is a lil bit different than any other French restaurant in Melbourne but overall I really like their duck leg confit.
