Shou Sumiyaki is one of the best Japanese BBQ in Melbourne or at least according to me. Sumibiyaki means Japanese cooking technique of grilling food mesh over charcoal grill. Shou sumiyaki utilise smoke less charcoal grillers so you will not come out from the restaurant smelled as bad as coming out from a regular BBQ restaurant.

I always love meat especially fresh high quality meat on the BBQ. My mom always said that I inherited my dad's taste palate, he always love meat and the expensive one so he's been feeding me all the good stuff from a young age. Shou Sumiyaki located in Little Bourke St, decorated in black wood, dim lighting and it has a romantic, modern yet expensive vibe.

Shou Sumiyaki offers ala carte and set menu, they also served plenty of varities of mocktail, cocktail, starters and to the contrary of what people thinks they also served seafood and kurobuta pork to BBQ. Each person is given a set of sauce to dip; yakiniku barbecue sauce, mustard & miso sauce, spicy garlic & miso and sea salt.

I always recommended their M10 Wagyu Scotch Fillet to be eaten at the end as the finale sauce it taste delicious and just melt in your mouth. Yes, if you have tasted on of those high quality meat in Japan such as Kobe beef, Hida Beef and many more, it does not taste as good as that but this meat is as good as I ever tasted in Melbourne.

The service was friendly, super attentive but the staff dominantly does not speak fluent English which makes it hard sometimes but besides that I love their meat. I always have a budget starting from $55/pp to dine in and normally just order full on meat cause that's what they are best for.
