Punch Lane

Punch Lane positioned at Little Bourke St, known for their wine bar for almost two decades. Their interior sets in comfortable European theme. The room full of mix match red leather chairs, wooden chairs and wall full of wine.

My husband and I, together with our baby went in to Punch Lane for a Mother's day lunch after church. This is my first ever mothers day so it's definitely a special day. I have heard Punch Lane raving review online and from my fellow bloggers then I thought this would be the perfect occasions to visit them. My first impression was there's a stair in front which make it hard for strollers and they did not mention it to me when I make the bookings and ask them for a place for my stroller. But the staff kind enough carry the stroller in for me and make space for the stroller on our table.

My husband suddenly feel tempted by their comprehensive cheese menu so he ordered Brie with house made sourdough crisp bread and accompaniments. The brie was a nice as ever, accompanied by fresh pear and apple compound which I love.

Venison Tartare - cauliflower cream, anchovy, smoked almond and chocolate crumb ($24). I never tried venison tartare before, surprisingly nice. The colour was much darker than regular tartare but the cauliflower cream was smooth and perfect to break the sourness from the tartare. I do not taste the chocolate flavour but the smoked almond was nice.

Pan Roasted Scallops - chestnut puree, hazelnut, sesame salsa, chorizo, sage ($23.5). This was the highlight of my meal. Perfectly cooked large succulent scallops with super delicious combinations of ingredients. I can't stop eating the garnish, we clean out the plate pretty fast.

Western Plains Roast Pork Loin - crispy boudin noir, apricot, ginger ($39). The pork loin was pretty lean, I was expecting it to be a lil bit juicier but the garnish was pretty nice. Love the apricot and it comes in a very generous size.

Special of The Day: Duck Breast with mushroom and artichoke. Another favourite of the meal, love the super tender duck breast. Cooked perfectly with a pink flesh in the middle with smoky artichoke and mushroom. Love them.

The restaurant it self was a bit gloomy and dark yet cosy. It's perfect for a brandy and cigar night for the boys. They don't have changing tables which is predictable since they are more of a bar. We receive discount from Entertainment Book, make sure you use yours if you have them.
