Cicciolina has been around since 1993 with Chef Virginia Redmon in charge of the cuisines. The restaurant divided into three seperate areas; dining, bar and private dining for 10-20 people. They also have a sister restaurant in Balaclava called Ilona Staller.

It was on a Saturday morning I woke up with a cravings for a good Italian food then Ciciolina comes into mind. My mom was also in town and it's a sunny day, perfect for an outdoor area such as St Kilda. Reservation's are welcome and also necessary to avoid disappointment since it's one of the iconic restaurant at Acland St. The dining area is decorated with various art paintings, mix match red sofa's and black dining chair with a lil peak of the kitchen. We started with super crunchy crust and moist complimentary bread.







My mom wanted something warm since basically this is our breakfast and lunch so she ordered;Traditional Bolognaise Lasagna ($26.5). To our surprise, it comes out with an appearance similar to baked eggs. The pasta was al dente, generous cheese, rich bolognaise sauce, perfect combination.


I ordered my favourite; Spaghetti Vongole - chilli, garlic, lemon, parsley ($29.5). They have two types of vongole pasta that day, the classic on their menu and the special of the day. I asked the staff and she said the one on the menu have a lighter, cleaner taste and the special of the day have heavier taste with tomato so I opted for the classic. I was really happy with the flavour, it was light but very well seasoned and very very generous vongole. Love it so much.




My husband drawn to one of the special of the day;Roasted Mirror Dory Fillet - parisienne gnocchi, bisque butter and soft shell crab ($42.5). The fish was soft, beautifully cooked with light yet packed full of flavour bisque, al dente soft gnocchi and very crunchy soft shell crab.



We were pretty full but we wanted something light to end our lunch; Peach Pannacotta it is! The overall flavour was good, sweet from the white chocolate, sour from the peaches with slight bitterness from the jelly and the texture was also well balanced; creamy pannacotta, crunchy nuts. Yum! The disappointment was the pannacotta was more like a mousse rather than pannacotta.






Warm, friendly service right from the beginning to end, she was humorous, understanding as well as attentive and honest. We love the service as well as the ambience so much. I would personally love to come back for that vongole pasta.
