Wings of Glory (invited)

Wings of Glory in South Melbourne located merely steps away from the tram stop so we can easily reach them by catching tram no 12. They are well known for their buffalo wings and their $1 wing deal. The restaurant itself got a cute yet simple decoration with white and yellow dominant colour.

As I was invited to a blogger event, they provided a table full of diverse wings flavours, carbs, vegetable, dipping sauce, and cupcakes with a simple sunflower as their table decoration. For the beverage, they provided us an alcoholic iced tea, coca-cola, and beer. I opted for the ice tea. It was iced tea combined with beer also with our own choice of lime or lemon or both for the sour taste and mint leaves as toppings. It was a refreshing which has semi sweet bitter and sourness. Perfect with the wings.

They got several kinds flavours of chicken wings or buffalo wings which were:  Hot, BBQ, Honey Pepper, Roulette, Cajun, Honey, and Lemon. The texture of each wings were great, the meat was tender, but the skin was crispy. Not forget to mention they also provided some carbs, which were chips and brown rice with veggies.

Hot wings was the spiciest flavour they offered, although they were spicy, they were tasty not because of the spiciness but the special sauce. They were really good with brown rice. I would recommend to dip all the wings with the dipping sauce because the dipping mayo was awesome; it made everything more tasty and well balance.

BBQ wings were sweet, and a little sour, they were not so crispy outside but really tender. Good combination with chips. Cajun is the most interesting flavour for me because it was too sour but yet sweet in my opinion, and the meat didn’t really absorb the sauce, therefore it was only the skin that really tasty and I can feel the sourness right away.

The lemon flavour was not my favourite. It was not really sour neither sweet, so it was in between and the skin was a bit soggy because of the sauce. Contrary, the lemon pepper sauce was tasty, it was honey with pepper mixed as the sauce then  grilled with the sauce and topped with salt after. The overall flavour was salty rather than sweet, nicely done, especially with brown rice.

There was roulette wings which they put four spiciest wings randomly in a basket and the others just fine. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the spiciest one. I really wanted to taste the spiciest wings since I love spicy food. This would be a fun game between a group of friends or just to start conversations.

Their chips was amazing. It was crunchy inside out and tasty. It was definitely my favourite chips around and they are really good even when you combine it with every wings. I just can't stop eating the chips. Love it.

The name of the dessert was quite unique and catchy. It was “ice dog” which is ice cream combine with hot dogs. It was similar to hot dog but replace the sausages with ice cream. They divided it into 3 flavours: oreo, peanut butter, and strawberry. Honestly it was really good, even though the bread was quite dense. My favourite flavour was the peanut butter.

There was some cupcakes provided as the dessert too, there were two types of cupcakes, the black and the yellow. My favourite was the black one which was oreo, cookies and cream, it was not too sweet but just enough perfect but the yellow cupcake was also yummy, it was sweet with sour flavour from the hint of the lemon.

Overall, it was a fun event. Nicely organise by Zilla and Brook as always. I would definitely be back to wings of glory, especially for their chips.
