Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen has been around in Melbourne for quite some time now, it's a concept launched by Yamagoya Ramen in 1970 specialising in the complete package of chikuho noodles, tonkotsu soup, gyoza and chashu roast pork. Finally, with over 40 years long tradition it arrives in Melbourne. Located in Russel St, perfectly reachable by public transport and private vehicles.

The restaurant it's located underground decorated in wooden furnitures with modern Japanese style. Love the spaciness and bright lighting. Ikkoryu is opened by one of my husband school friends, he used to owned an Indonesian restaurant at Carlton then finally decided to change gear and open a Japanese ramen restaurant.

Gyoza (7pcs/$11) and Chicken Wing Teriyaki ($8). I find the gyoza a bit rough on the edges and slightly too salty on the inside but the chicken wings was delicious. It was super tasty, slightly spicy on the skin but it just amped up the flavour, crispy outside, juicy inside, not too oily. Definitely one of the favourite at Ikkoryu.

Potato Croquette ($10), Karaage - fried chicken (5pcs/$10) and Yakimeshi - Japanese Fried Rice ($12). The croquette was crunchy on the outside but very rich on the outside and slightly too oily, similar with the chicken karaage even though it has nice and crispy skin and the mayonnaise makes a good companion to the chicken. The fried rice was decent but a bit too bland for my taste.

Customise your own ramen; Original Tonkotsu - normal oil, normal soup, no green onion, regular pork, normal soy sauce, normal noodle texture and autama. I find the broth slightly too salty, pork esd too hsrf to chew but the autama was very soft and tasty. The appearance could be improve.

Yuzu Tonkotsu - light ramen oil, normal soup broth, green onion, regular pork, normal soy sauce, normal noodle texture. The noodles was chewy in a good way, the broth was very rich, a bit too spicy and strikes on the throat, pork was under seasoned.

The service could be improve on attentiveness since I need to asked twice for coke and then two of their staff come back to me and ask me again regarding my order. Even though they were friendly, clearly there's a lack of communication among the staff.
