Tinker (Invited)

Tinker is part of successful brunch family; PentaTemperance Society, Legacy and MOB. I have tried all of them except MOB. So far I love Penta the most, I had the most amazing experience there compared to the other siblings. Tinker is decorated with bright colour, white and mint which really in trend right now and I love it.

I was invited down to Tinker to try their food but to be honest it has been on my list since they open end of last year. Everyone knows I'm a big fan of panna cotta so that's the reason I want to try Tinker so bad but sadly I went in on Saturday and they totally run out panna cotta. The owner was friendly enough to reinvite me again the very next week just to try the panna cotta but since I'm already there might as well try some of their menu. We begin with Mango Smoothies - mango, coconut milk, yoghurt, honey ($9), Peanut Butter and Raspberry Smoothie - banana, raspberries, peanut butter, honey, almond milk ($9) and Houseblend Skinny Cappuccino ($4). The mango smoothies is one of the best smoothies I have tasted these days, smooth, fresh with balanced sweetness but the peanut butter raspberry was light with the perfect balanced of flavour and honestly their coffee was really good as well.

I opted for something healthy today since I originally wanted to order the panna cotta; Herb and Feta Smashed Avocado - heirloom tomatoes, black sesame, radish, chilli on dark rye ($17.5). The avocado was smooth with lot's of herbs towards the end the herbs a bit over whelming but the addition of black sesame and radish was a nice touch.

My husband ordered Sriracha Baked Salmon - raw zoodles, edamame, avocado, herb dressing and basil ($21) because I keep telling him that I had this dish at Penta and it was delicious and he agreed. It had the same flavour and consistency as the one I had in Penta which was amazing, salmon very well cooked with the same freshness of raw zoodles, edamame, avocado and light sauce. Apparently this dish could also be find at MOB.

I really wanted the panna cotta so the very next week on Friday, I travelled all the way back to Tinker and finally got to try their Mango & Saffron Panna Cotta - vanilla, almond, cranberry granola with strawberries, passionfruit, raspberry and coconut ($16.5). This dish definitely worth the travel back, like it's siblings Penta they did a really good job in constructing the panna cotta. It's jiggly, creamy but not over powering, perfectly partnered with fresh fruit to balanced up the sweetness from the mango and I can barely taste the saffron which I prefer remain that way. For me this is definitely one of the best pannacotta in Melbourne, together with Penta nutella panna cotta.

Tinker clearly has become one of the local favourite due to their unique and creative menu. The cafe it self is more suitable for a group of 2-4, there were not much space for bigger groups. The food comes in quickly which I love and the service was friendly enough. Tinker just officially become my second favourite cafe out of all the siblings.
