Public House is a dining and bar destination located very closely with East Richmond station. They offer light bites as well as casual dining with a reasonable prices. Public House is a place where you can for casual after office drinks or pumping weekends.

I was invited to Public House and decided to visit on a Saturday lunch time. The place has a dim lighting on the first floor with a spacey bar, mixed seats between bar stools and private seatings for 4-6 people. Upstairs terrace is perfect for a sunny day. I must apologise for the photos in the blog post due to very limited lighting in the area.

We arrived right when they are open, both of the staff was so friendly and attentive. After a view chit chat, the appetisers started to arrived; Fried Soft Shell Crab Tacos - corn, avocado salsa, kewpie mayo ($15), Jamon Iberico de Bellota - crusty bread, crushed tomato ($18) and Salt Pepper Calamari - lemon cheek, tartare ($15). Mitch one of the staff really love the tacos and it was really good, soft tacos with super crispy but not greasy soft shell crab with smooth fresh avocado. But the salt pepper calamari does not fall behind, it was cut thinly maintain it's crispiness and very well seasoned. I honestly could not stop eating it. My husband favourite was the Jamon Iberico, the finest quality of cured meats from Spain, we did have it on our last trip to Europe and we miss it so much. This is the first time in Melbourne, we ever tasted it again except in Movida of course and we love it.

As if it's not enough, the main comes; Crispy Skin Duck - blood plump sauce, broccolini, steamed rice ($35) and Crispy Pork Belly - pumpkin puree, roasted Dutch carrots, pea, micro herbs ($29). The duck was super crispy but the meat could be a touch more tender. The blood plump is a nice touch to brighten up the dish, the presentations could be improve. The pork belly was beautifully done and presented. The pumpkin puree was so smooth and sweet, I love it. The pork belly it self has a crispy skin, tender meat and well seasoned but the carrot could be cooked a lil bit more.

We were too full for dessert so we decided to skip it. Overall, it was a very enjoyable lunch. Definitely above average, my husband really love it because of the full packages of the friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices. Another plus point, the staff was so proud of the work they do at Public House.
