Merchants Guild opened in 2013 by Mario Minichilli and Vincent Conti, the team behind Inkr7 with the help of chef as well as co owner Paul Davies. It has been one of the local favourites and standing strong even remain busy on weekdays. Because it's located on the main street, parking might be challenging on weekends.

I was visiting one of my friend who recently gave birth near Oakleigh area then me and one other friend with her toddler decided to go for a late lunch since both of us haven't had anything since breakfast. She ordered Mixed Juice, that comes out really fresh and I ordered my regular Skinny Cappuccino. It was well made, fluffy, smooth milk with prominent coffee flavour. The cafe it self has a long interior with plenty of private seatings, small outdoor seating in front, communal table and courtyard at the back. There are some tables suitable for parents with kids and prams, they even provide them with crayons and a piece of paper to colour.

My friend ordered Sweet Pea and Feta Smash-dark rye, Spanish sardines with lemon, herb crumb ($17) and poached egg ($2). At first she was pretty shocked cause the portion was so small but she did said in the end it was enough for her. She also said that the bread was a little bit tough but the rest was pretty enjoyable due to the saltiness of the sardine mixed in properly with the sweet pea and extra crunchiness from the herb crumb.

I opted for something a little bit meaty;Maple glazed pork belly-fried eggs, black barley, macadamia nut salad and whipped feta ($19.5). Contrary to my friend dish, mine come in a generous portion. The pork belly was very well seasoned but some part of the pork belly was a little bit tough and too dry.

From the very beginning, the service was friendly and very accomodating to my friend with her toddler. The place it self is warm, welcoming and comfortable, no wonder it remains to be one of the locals favourite all this time.
