Little Sister (Summer Menu Revisited-Invited)

Little Sister is located near Essendon area and can be reached with public transport but a little bit complicated, it's much more convenient to reach Little Sister with private vehicles as well since there are many parking spots in the area. The café is located on the corner of a junction just across a park.

This is the third time I was invited to Little Sister and you can click on the link to see the previous two reviews but this time around I can't make it, so I have to send my representation in. This review is based on their experienced. We were welcomed and seated at the back outdoor area which was photographed and used as the background of the special summer menu. The area was really cozy and had a good lighting. The walls were painted beautifully and the open sides were covered with transparent covers to prevent the room from wind and rain. The special summer menu offered a range of 6 dishes that we got to choose from and we ordered the Jim Dandy Hot Plate and Ricotta Hot Cakes.

Jim Dandy Hot Plate – Fried, poached or scrambled eggs with house mixed beans, thyme, mushrooms, slow roasted tomato, potato rosti & grilled halloumi on artesian bread. The waitress suggested us to add bacon to the dish and recommended the scrambled eggs, and she was right as both bacon and scrambled eggs really matched with the rest components of the dish. We really loved the whole plate, especially the mushroom and grilled halloumi, except for the bread which was a bit hard to cut.

Ricotta Hot Cakes – with grilled bananas, mint strawberry and melon salsa, vanilla mascarpone, pistachio and maple. The plate was beautifully presented with colourful garnish flowers. The hotcakes themselves were sweet enough, which made we think that it would be better if the maple syrup was less sweet.

After we finished our meal, we ordered ice chocolate and ice coffee but unfortunately the waitress forgot to put them on order. So we waited for quite a long time before we finally re-ordered but then served the drinks real quick afterward. Our wait was worth it because the drinks really brightened up our day. Overall experience, we enjoyed our brunch there and the staffs were friendly.
