Chez Olivier is a romantic bistro style restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant I feel transported to the small restaurants I dined in during my multiple travels to Paris. I was instantly in love, the dim lighting, simple dark wood furniture, chandelier, wine bottles on the walls, love locks where couple can buy locks and write their love notes then put it in their restaurant and of course  the language spoken by the staff. I cab truly understand why this bistro has a famous reputation for lovers.

I went in to Chez Olivier on a Sunday night with my husband. We were greeted with an enthusiastic ‘Bonjour!’ and shown to our table by a polite waitress. I opted for their mocktail; raspberry and mango. It taste a bit bitter, sour with a slight sweetness. The complimentary bread was really good as well as the butter, remind me more of French every step of the way.










I started with my favourites; Escargot a la Bourguignonne - snails in garlic and herbs butter ($19). Every time I saw this on the menu, I have to ordered it. Escargot at Chez Olivier was well cooked and prepared, it just need a touch of salt.



My husband never eaten a bisque in his life so I suggested him to order the Bisque de Fruits de Mer - thick and creamy seafood soup ($20.5). To my surprise, he loves it so much so do I. It was rich but not over whelming, all the seafood in the soup was perfectly cooked. I would love to order this dish again.



Beef Bourguignon - beef in red wine sauce, bacon, mushrooms with a puff pastry top ($36). This is a well known French dish and this is the first time I had it with a puff pastry on top. The beef was super tender, the red wine sauce was a bit too thin for my taste but the puff pastry was super crunchy but lack of fluffiness.



Canard a L'orange - roasted duck with orange sauce and pumpkin mash ($37). This was the most generous duck dish I have ever get in a French restaurant. Roast duck leg and breast, the duck part was super tender but the breast part could be a little more tender. The pumpkin mash was so smooth and sweet, together with the orange sauce it was well partnered but a touch more salt and pepper would elevate the dish even more, balanced the sweetness from the pumpkin and orange. A lil bit of side dish would also help.

It was a night well spent, both me and my husband was pretty happy leaving Chez Olivier. Especially with a discount from Entertainment Book
