Bang Bang is owned by Richie Ludbrook and Dave Sharry located in the historic Caufield Rifle Club. Riverland group (The Boatbuilder's Yard, Pilgrim Bar, Wye River General Store) with VicTrack transform the place to a gorgeous new urban escape. Conveniently located next to Elsternwick Station with plenty of street parking around, make's it accessible to locals and foodies from all over Victoria.

I have been invited to Bang Bang last year when they pop up at The Boatbuilders Yard and I have been a big fan ever since. Their food were tasty, super delicious and had the authentic flavour that I terribly miss from South East Asia. I'm so excited to finally hear they are open for business and lucky me I got an invite to their influencer dinner. I haven't been this excited about a restaurant openings for quite some time. I was greeted by a glass of bubbly and totally amazed by the interior. I love the semi outdoor area, bright and airy, perfect for the summer. Inside decorated with green leafy wallpaper, Bang Bang signature patterns, open bar, a lil kitchen window, mix match wooden furnitures and white tables. The restaurant screams urban, modern with a bit of jungle vibe, I like it a lot so does my partner.

We started with Betel Leaf; Confit Duck and Pomelo ($6each). Betel Leaf is definitely in trend right now, almost all Asian fusion casual dining served them with various fillings. The duck was tender, tasty but the betel leaf flavour remain dominant. Not everybody on the table likes the pomelo cause it had a bitter ending but personally I always like them.

Then we moved on to the next dish; Chargrilled King Prawn ($7.5each). The prawn was beautifully grilled but a lil bit over cooked for my taste but they are beautifully seasoned with charcoal note and I would have them again anytime.

The next dish was light, fresh yet have enough punching flavour then subdue by the kingfish at the end. Sashimi of Kingfish - caramelized cashew, trout roe is one of the crowd's favourite dish of the night, it's gone between minutes.

Crispy Chicken Ribs - house spice, Bang Bang sriracha ($15). Who doesn't love a good chicken ribs? I my self is a big fan of fried chicken and this dish was super crispy, flavourful by it self and even more with the refreshing sriracha.

Chargrilled Pork Neck - iceberg lettuce, red pepper jaw. Pork neck if not cooked properly, it could be uneatable due to the toughness but Bang Bang cooked it perfectly and red pepper jaw was so beautifull that we could not stop eating it.

Tofu, Avocado, Sesame Seed ($15.5) - mint, black vinegar, ginger ($15.5). This was a creamy yet light and refreshing salad with punching flavour but not overwhelming the ingredients. I do think the mint get's too much towards the end but maybe that's just my preferences.

Roasted Pumpkin - kipfler potato, cinnamon, anise curry ($35). The pumpkin was one of the most beautiful dish on the event because of the perfectly soft and seasoned aromatic pumpkin with punching curry flavour. I would have more of that curry on the plate cause it was so delicious. Everybody on the table loves them so much.

Chargrilled Cape Grim Short Rib - ginger, holy basil broth ($55). When this dish arrived on table everybody was so excited. Massive portions of short rib drowned in holy basil broth even from the smell of it, I can't wait to eat it. The beef was so tender but sadly there was still a bit of gummy flavour in it even though the broth it self was packed of balanced sweet, spicy and salty flavour

Black Sticky Rice - pandan sweet cream, mango, coconut sorbet/mango sorbet ($13) and Fresh Watermelon with Chilli Salt. The black sticky rice is one of the dish I have been waiting for, it was really nice but I just wish there was more of mango on the dish and stronger pandan flavour on the sweet cream. The watermelon with chilli salt is a dish often found in South East Asia but somehow the chilli salt at Bang Bang is much stronger so be careful and just put a dap on it on your watermelon.

The service was impeccable through out the night, they are super attentive, friendly and accomodating even though the place was packed with influencer and the front of the restaurant still open to public. The food comes on time, well paced and finish on time. This is one of the most organise influencer dinner I have ever attended, I wish all the event is as organise and on time as this event. Besides that, they served good food with punching flavours and I would love to come again anytime. I just wish they had tumeric chicken, beef betel leaf and silken tofu crispy rice salad that I miss so much from last year pop up.
