Mr Peebles (Invited)

Mr Peebles is a small, comfortable homey cafe located around 8 minutes walk from Ivanhoe Station. There are plenty of car park around the cafe for private vehicles.

I came in on their last day of operations in 2016 and one hour before they close because of the miscommunications with the owner. But I was really happy I made it. I love the red brick wall, it gives the small cafe a great personality. They also have a small patio at the back to enjoy during summer.

Disco Stu - classic waffles with southern fried chicken, coriander and miso mayo, maple syrup ($18.5). The whole ingredients works really well together, the fried chicken was tasty and the waffle was crispy yet fluffy. I love it.

Uncle Pablos Hash - crisp potato hash, grilled chorizo, charred leek, charcoal emulsion, fried eggs, jus ($18.5). This is one of the most popular dish according to the staff an I can easily see why, it taste delicious. The potato hash was crunchy and soft with a lil bit too salty chorizo but balanced with the unique charred leek and charcoal emulsion. I would have this dish again.

Mr Potato Head - pan fried gnocchi, brussel sprouts, sweet bacon, truffle vinaigrette, pecorino, poached egg ($18.5). The gnocchi was deliciously seasoned but it could be a touch smoother inside. The sweet bacon balanced the truffle vinaigrette and pecorino nicely.

It was a highly satisfied brunch, all the dish was delicious which is really hard to find at any cafe in Melbourne. I left with a happy feeling and a full belly even though we were pretty rush cause they are about to close, so the staff was in the midst of wrapping up. I didn't blame them though, I will act the same if it's the last day of work for the year.
