Humble Rays

Humble Rays recently opened end of last year but quickly turn heads on Instagram with their colourful, mouth watering sweet dishes. I, my self is one of the foodie that immediately wanted to visit Humble Rays. Located just outside the city reachable by all kinds of public transport and there are plenty of street parking around even though finding a parking on a weekend might be challenging.

I ended up visiting Humble Rays on January with my little bro cause I know he would love the skookie. We were pretty impress with the interior, it was spacey, bright and colourful. I love the colour palette so much. I started my day with my usual hot skinny cappuccino because even though it's summer, it was a windy rainy day the day I visited. The coffee was creamy, fluffy milk with strong coffee flavour without an overwhelming bitter flavour.

APSP Smashed - combo of smashed avocado, sweet potatoes & pumpkin, quinoa, goats feta, coriander, lime, smoked cashew dukkah on potato & rosemary toast ($14.5). Both the pumpkin and avocado was creamy and melt in your mouth but the toast crust was a lil bit tough.

Sticky Brisket Beef - slow cooked sticky beef brisket, stout onion chutney, cheddar, sautéed mushrooms, smoked bacon jam on a brioche bun ($15). The top bun was amazingly sweet with crunchy toasty bun with a fluffy middle which both me and my brother love so much, the bottom bun was a bit soggy due to the sauce but I don't mind it. The beef brisket was tender and flavourful, well partnered with all the other ingredients. I would eat this burger again next time maybe with the fried egg.

Classic Skookie - goey chocolate chip cookie, house made marshmallow, chocolate sauce, almond crumbs, chocolate ice cream ($12). The portion was smaller than expected but definitely enough to satisfy your chocolate cravings. I love this dish so does my brother, the warm choco cookies under neath mixed in with the super goey but not not too sweet marshmallow and chocolate ice cream makes this dish the bomb! I normally don't really like marshmallow because of the over sweetness but I love this version of it.

I was pretty impress with all the food which doesn't happen so often for me. There are plenty of dishes I would like to try next time such as their Green Tea Skookie, French Toast Forever and Chicken Hot Sauce. They also have unique drinks such as popping pearls and thai iced tea that I would love to taste. The service was a bit slow and unfriendly, they seem to rush us even though the cafe was pretty quiet on a weekdays. A little bit of smile and well mannered service would probably earn this cafe a perfect score for me.
