From on High

From on High belong a group named Brewsville based in Melbourne but expanding quickly to the rest Australia and Brooklyn, New York. They owned Hard Pressed, Small Print, The Yorkshire Brewhouse, Saint James and the recently opened Pedro Espresso. From on High owned by Phil and Head Chef Alex Abraham, they bring a touch of Middle Eastern and focus on comfort brunch dishes.

Originally I wanted to visit Pedro but apparently they are close for the holiday seasons so I went to From on High instead. The cafe fits in around 30 people with two separated indoor area. It's pretty hard for a group larger than 4 or 6. The cafe has a warm vibe with dim lighting decorated with classic wooden furnitures.

Pikelet Stack - fresh berries, honeycomb, vanilla mascarpone cream and chocolate soil ($16). This is From on High most popular dish, I have seen them numerous times on Instagram. The pikelet was quite airy with balanced milk, butter and sugar. The rest of the ingredients on the plate was delicious in texture and taste. Super creamy delicious cream, crunchy chocolate soil and a lil bit of freshness from the berries. We love it.

Chia panna cotta - activated tumeric, coconut, orange with organic coconut chips, blood orange and granola ($14). The panna cotta was well made and refreshing but I don't really like the rest of the ingredients on the plate. Towards the end the bitterness and tumeric gets too over whelming.

Pulled pork belly omelette - sticky Asian sauce, house made kimchi and a spicy pickled salad ($19) with sliced avocado with sumac ($5.5). This is one of the highlight from our meal, omelette was perfectly cooked, the pork belly was crunchy, the whole ingredients worked really well together. Yummy! I do think they should be much more generous with the extra avocado.

Crisp Parmesan polenta with portobello mushrooms - mild harissa, kale, panko crumbed egg, parmesan tuille ($17.5). I don't normally like polenta that much but this version was crunchy on the outside and moist inside, I like it. The whole combinations just packed full of delicious savoury flavours without being too naughty.

Ras el hanout roasted chicken - tomato, preserved lemon jam ($15). The flat bread was nice but a little warmer would be good. Love the roasted chicken, really tender and tasty.

Since I was seated on the second room, it's a little bit hard to get any attention of the staff and the food takes a bit long to be made even though the second batch of food comes quickly. I honestly like the whole experience and so does the rest of my family.
