1809 just opened merely a month ago and it's the sister of the popular Muharam and Trei Cafe. The location is quite close to Trei with plenty of car park in front of the cafe. 1809 is a special name to Angie and Maliq Deane's. Inspired by their youngest son Stefan who is differently abled, the logo was made in braille and Stefan brother came up with the name.

I was invited by Jane, the manager of the place. The cafe it self has the same vibe as Trei with same settings but slightly different interior. Quite petit, a bit hard for a large group of people. Sri Lankan architect named Murail Ismael helped with the design and he has various impressive resume behind him. Decorated the cafe with timber, greenery, glass door as well as window, concrete and wooden furnitures.

We started our Saturday brunch with a cup of coffee by Nicolo and it was a decent cup of coffee, we enjoyed it very much. The coffee was creamy, yet strong but not too bitter. Love it.

Benedict - smoked salmon rillette, panko crumbed eggs, sriracha hollandaise, sauteed mushrooms, spinach on chilli roti ($19). This reminded me of Sir Charles and honestly I enjoyed it so much even though it's a bit too rich to be eaten by one person but phenomenal to share. The smoked salmon rillete was tasty, I can't stop eating it, two perfect crumbed egg, tasty thin roti and nicely made hollandaise.

French Toast - celeriac puree, pecorino, sauteed mushrooms, poached eggs and crispy prosciutto ($16). Savoury French toast it's not something you can find everywhere, we were keen to try it and we like it. The french toast was fluffy with slight golden on the outside, creamy pureee and super tasty crispy prosciutto.

Dragon Fruit Bowl - house made granolla, chia seeds, shaved coconut and fresh fruit ($15). This is the best fruit bowl I have tasted in Melbourne by far, the dragon fruit brings something refreshing and lighten up the whole bowl. Even my husband who normally don't eat this kind of this, loves it.

I had a nice time at 1809, Jane and her team had been accomodating and friendly even though they are quite busy on a Saturday morning. Since it's located close to home, I will definitely be back for their dragon fruit bowl.
