Saint James is the English Cousin of From on High, Hard Pressed, Small Print Pizza Bar, Pedro Espresso and Yorkshire Brewhouse. Craig Tate and Rich Donovan had been friends for life, they grew up together then finaly opened a cafe together. Teaming up with Phil Gijsbners of Hard Pressed Coffee and From on High both of them brings a little bit of England to Malvern. St James is named after St. James Park, the home of Tate and Donovan's favourite football club Newcastle United.

I was missing my brunch routine during my trip to Japan so when I received Saint James invite from Craig, I gladly come in the day I went back to Melbourne. The cafe it self separated in two area, indoor and the lovely courtyard at the back. I opted for stool chair, looking out the window. The whole cafe is decorated with wooden furnitures, warm tone with minimalistic decoration.

We started our brunch with some well made Coffee, refreshing mixed juice; Purple Power - carrot, celery, beetroot, orange ginger and A Touch of Passion - orange, passionfruit, apple. A touch of passion originally have pineapple mixed into it but I opted for no pineapple cause of the sore throat I'm having.

Strawberries and Cream Pikelet - vanilla creme fraiche, meringue gems, fresh strawberries, coffee and chocolate soil ($18). This is one of their new menu for the seasons and was recommended by Craig him self to me. The pancake was fluffy yet heavy but enjoyable, the creme was a touch too sour for me but the fresh strawberries and soils was really nice.

Saint Benedict - berkshire pork shoulder, fresh apple, poached eggs, beaurre noisette hollandaise on toasted sourdough ($19.5). This is one of their classic menu and I can see why, the hollandaise was creamy and thick, the pork shoulder was tender and tasty, poached eggs was well made and fresh apple just a perfect refresher for the dish.

The service was friendly, fast and attentive. It was a nice welcome back brunch with my hubby, the coffee was strong and the juice was fresh just like I wanted. I have been wanting to try From on High, now it convince me even more to visit them.
