Girl Next Door (Invited)

Girl Next Door is located in Tolarno Hotel, St Kilda. They served a modern Italian twist breakfast with fresh seasonal ingredients. It's owned by a team of two brothers, one in charge of the food in the kitchen and the other on the front house mixing drinks and brewing coffee's.

I was invited to their blogger breakfast on a Sunday morning, where marathon take place at St Kilda. It's kinda hard to find a parking spot but gladly my husband agreed to drop me off then I get to go home with one of my foodie friend afterwards. The cafe it self was petit with limited tables but had charms to it.

We were given 3  choices of breakfast board and one of the foodie on my table, Kate picked the Green with Envy; Honey Mint Smoothie - honeydew melon, coconut milk, fresh mint, fresh lime juice, ice with a drizzle of honey, Lime & Coconut Muffin - coconut muffin infused with lime fresh out of the oven and Green Breakfast Bowl - coconut cream, vanilla, basil infused ricotta, pistachio, chia crumble with kiwi fruit, grapes, bee pollen and a sprinkling coconut.

My foodie friend, Christina picked Betty White; Banana Cinnamon Smoothie - banana, almond milk, cinnamon, coconut sugar, honey, ice and with a sprinkling of cinnamon, White Choc & Macadamia Muffin - fan favourite white chocolate, roasted macadamia muffin fresh out of the oven and White Breakfast Bowl - coconut cream, vanilla infused ricotta, pistachio, chia crumble with lychee, banana, bee pollen and a sprinkling of coconut. I did get to taste the smoothie and I love them. It was creamy and smooth but not too rich.

I got the Pretty in Pink; Watermelon Crush Smoothie - watermelon tropical juice, ice, lemon sorbet, Raspberry & White Choc Muffin - raspberry and white chocolate muffin and Pink Breakfast Bowl - coconut cream, vanilla infused ricotta, pistachio, chia crumble with dragon fruit, strawberries, bee pollen and a sprinkling of coconut. My favourite was the smoothie, just like a mocktail. It's fresh, light and refreshing, would love to have more of that. The muffins was well baked, sweet but light, nicely done.

Cornetto - Italian Croissants with house made preserve and butter and House made Roasted Nut Granolla - seasonal fruit, raspberry coulis, natural yoghurt and honey. The yoghurt it self was a little bit sour but the honey helped balanced it out. Love the fresh fruit on top.

Best Beans Around - slow cooked fagioli beans with salami picante and fresh topped mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes on grilled sourdough. The bean is one of the best dish of the day, it was rich, very well seasoned and tasty. Mixed well with the bread and warm on your stomach.

Pulled Beef Sandwich - 8 hour roasted beef brisket, melted cheddar, chipotle and spinach on sourdough. The beef was tender but sadly it was way too salty for my taste, the saltiness over powered the whole dish.

The service was amazingly quick, attentive and friendly. The breakfast went quickly and very well paced, loving their team work. At the even we were given goodie bags full of gifts from Girl Next Door, Revlon and Emma and Toms. We were also allowed to bring back anything we can't finish which I love since I hate food waste and I know my husband and two brothers would finish it straight away. It's a nice ending to a beautiful Sunday morning brunch.
