Fancy Hank's (Invited)

I was invited to a special preview dinner at Fancy Hank's to celebrate the opening of the restaurant. The restaurant is fully booked for bloggers, media and influencer. It was a lively event, full of laughters, chatters and plenty of food. Fancy Hank's started as a pop up then finally they get to open their permanent restaurant focusing on American style slow cooked BBQ.

The restaurant it self is decorated with dark wooden furnitures, big window on one side of the wall over looking Bourke St, long bars, open kitchen and cozy cushions. I personally love the classy but modern vibe to the place.

Snacks; Butter Milk Biscuits, Devilled Eggs, Maple Glazed Belly Ham & Red Mayo and Fried Cauliflower, Ranch Dressing & Hot Sauce. All the appetisers were delicious, I love them so much. The maple glazed belly ham was my favourite, it was a great combination of sweet and salty. Quickly followed by the devilled eggs, creamy and super tasty. The fried cauliflower was crunchy but not oily with creamy ranch dressings and ended with a nice hot taste.

From the Smoker; Beef Brisket - black pepper rub, pasture fed, marble score 2+ from Gippsland, Victoria, Pulled Pork Shoulder - paprika, brown sugar rub, free range, black Berkshire pig from Western district, Victoria, Chicken - buttermilk brined, free range from Northern, Victoria and Sausage Links - beef and black pepper. My favourite is their sausages, it's a has a little bit of spiciness, saltiness and the next one is their beef brisket but the rest somehow fall a little bit blend to me.

Besides the army of main, they also provide us with an army of Sides; Coleslaw Kentucky style, Wedge salad - blue cheese dressing, onion jam, pickled relish, Pit Braised Beans - molasses, smoked bacon, sour cream and Corn Bread - jalapeno butter. I like the coleslaw the most, creamy yet fresh and light.

A feast like this can not end without a Dessert; Cafe du Monde, Doughnuts and Coffee Pudding. The doughnut it self was a bit dry for my taste, it would be great if they add a custard feeling inside it to add creaminess to the dish.

I still have one item I want to try at Fancy Hank and it's their ribs so I will definitely get back to try them. Normally, I went home straight after the last dish but this time I caught up in the lively vibe and conversations I stayed a bit longer. By the end of the night, I went home with a great mood.
