Backstreet Eating has been open for quite sometime by Tim Tehan who also the owner of the Birdsman Eating but nearly a year a go, the new owner take over and make a little change here and there on the venue and also the menu. All of their butchery is done in house and only using free range organic local produce.

I was invited by Zomato to attend one of their Di Bella Coffee meet up with Moshe Tawil at Backstreet Eating. I have met Moshe Tawil at previous zomato meet up at Selene's Chocolate Bar and my husband was in awe of his knowledge of coffee, so he was really excited to meet him again. We were seated at their private room downstairs on a high stool chairs, where they also dry aged beef. It was used to be their butchering room and where they made their charcuterie. The overall vibe of the restaurant is modern fashionably dark and moody.

Poached Chicken Salad matched with Kenya Twiga AB Cold Brew. I like the salad, it was fresh, light and the perfect opener for the dinner. The coffee had a full body, high acidity, strong fruit, nut notes and ends with chocolate tones with floral acidity

Linguini Marinara matched with Espresso Martini. The pasta was al dente and well seasoned. The seafood was fresh and comes in a very generous portions. The espresso was rich and strong with citrus, spicy aroma and earthy wine flavours. It had a subtle acidity, heavy body and bold liquorice finish.

Backstreet Aged Rump Sanga matched with House Blend Felici Long Black. The bread was super crispy, tasty and perfect for the melting cheese and tender meat inside, the coffee actually enhanced the meal taste.

I had to say shooting in there wasn't easy because it's pretty dark and they had yellow lighting. Overall, it was a well paced fast event just I like it and it was nice to meet Moshe Tawil again.
